Best fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Week 2
Fantasy football owners have a love-hate relationship with the waiver wire. You get a good claim spot, you rush to pick up the new hot commodity, and then he’s a bust. Or maybe you pass it up altogether only to see a no-name sleeper turn into a star. But it’s time to start getting ready for Week 2, and regardless of how your first matchup went, hope springs eternal on the waiver wire or in your FAAB bidding process. Who cares if you hadn’t heard of Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, A.J. Brown, Malcolm Brown or Raheem Mostert before Week 1. You have now.
The thing to remember about the waiver wire this early is that it’s easy to get caught up in the hype. You don’t want to drop any of your obvious studs, and you might not even want to give up on some of the late-round fliers you picked in the draft. But Week 1 usage might be the most predictive instrument, even it didn’t turn into big yardage. For example, you can definitely believe in the 17 targets Jamison Crowder received — the fact that he caught 14 of them is less consequential (though a nice bonus). The same can be true of Darren Sproles, who got all sorts of snaps in Philly on both rushing and passing downs.
With that said, here’s a look at the best waiver wire pickups before Week 2 of the fantasy football season.
