DraftKings Week 16 Monday Night Showdown: Picks, advice for Vikings vs. Packers NFL DFS
Vikings vs. Packers is the final Monday Night Football game of the season, so it’s the final time you can close out your week with our DraftKings Showdown advice after your Sunday picks potentially went poorly. RB injuries for Minnesota create some uncertainty in a game where otherwise we’d like to think we know how the players will perform. A lot of veterans often leads to unexciting NFL DFS advice.
Our attempt here is to snag a slightly underpriced Adam Thielen as our captain. That leaves room to get both Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Jones, while also jumping on the Mike Boone bandwagon while there’s still space.
DraftKings Showdown Picks: Vikings vs. Packers
CAPTAIN (1.5x points, 1.5x price): WR Adam Thielen, Vikings ($12,900)
Thielen is the lowest priced of any of what you would call this game’s “studs.” It makes sense – he’s just a week removed from returning from his hamstring injury, and he had only three catches in that return. But this is an uber-talented receiver who, if he has a game like many he had last year or even early this season, could return huge value.
FLEX: RB Aaron Jones, Packers ($10,800)
You could choose to fade Green Bay’s running game against the Vikings’ front seven in this one, but Jones too consistently gets touches and picks up chunk yardage to avoid him. The other route you could take, if you so chose, is to find a way to fit in Davante Adams or Kirk Cousins instead. Jones balances our lineup a bit more so we touch on the game’s different facets.
FLEX: QB Aaron Rodgers, Packers ($10,400)
Rodgers underwhelms from a statistical perspective more often than not these days. But he’s still Rodgers, and by playing him with Jones we hopefully get a part in every Green Bay touchdown.
FLEX: RB Mike Boone, Vikings ($9,000)
If Alexander Mattison is a surprise active, he might be the play in this spot. But Mattison should be out, which would leave Boone to get 15-plus carries against a weak Green Bay run defense, and there could be some people who stay away from Boone as mostly unproven.
FLEX: TE Jimmy Graham, Packers ($3,200)
This is mostly a touchdown-dependent play, but we know Rodgers will look Graham’s way in the end zone, so it’s a better bet than any of the other Green Bay TEs.
FLEX: TE Irv Smith Jr., Vikings ($3,000)
Smith is on the field a lot for a player who doesn’t rack up a ton of catches. But he’s an athletic rookie who will make plays if given the chance, and he’s got more chance of breaking a long one than you’d normally think for a guy with the TE designation.
