Sports Betting This Weekend

Last weekend’s marquee sports betting event was the NBA All-Star Game, and this weekend it’s the Daytona 500 as the Sprint Cup Series gets underway on Sunday afternoon. The days ahead also offer up a full slate of NBA and college basketball betting options, plus games around the NHL and a UFC betting card down in Anaheim.

Danica Patrick has the pole for the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday, but she’s back at +4000 odds at , 5Dimes to win the first official race of the Sprint Cup Series season. Tony Stewart holds down +1000 odds for Sunday, with Kyle Busch at +1100, and both Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. pegged at +1200 odds.

From there it’s Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin at +1300 on the NASCAR odds for Sunday at 5Dimes, followed by Brad Keselowski and defending Daytona 500 champion Matt Kenseth at +1400. Jimmie Johnson sits at +1500 odds to take the checkered flag.

LeBron James and the Miami Heat have a pair of games on tap this weekend for their supporters on the NBA betting lines, as they’re in Philadelphia on Saturday night before hosting the Cavaliers on Sunday. The Heat are 5-0 SU and 3-2 ATS in their past five games against the Sixers, and 4-1 SU and 2-3 ATS in their past five against the Cavs.

Sunday’s NBA betting slate also includes notable matchups the Lakers at Dallas, Memphis at Brooklyn, and Chicago at Oklahoma City. The Thunder are 3-2 SU and ATS in their last five against the Bulls; the UNDER paid out in four of those contests.

In college basketball No. 15 Butler hosts Saint Louis on Friday, while Saturday’s top matchups have No. 16 New Mexico at No. 22 Colorado State and No. 11 Georgetown at No. 8 Syracuse. On Sunday the highlight game is then No. 4 Michigan State at No. 18 Ohio State, with the Spartans 3-2 SU and 4-1 ATS in their last five games against the Buckeyes – and the UNDER paying out in four of their five most recent meetings.

Around the NHL there are two top Western Conference matchups on Friday night with San Jose at Chicago and Vancouver at Nashville, with the Canucks also in action on Sunday as they play on the road against the Detroit Red Wings. The Red Wings have lost three of their last five games against the Canucks, with the OVER/UNDER at 3-2.

Finally, on the MMA betting board it’s Ronda Rousey sitting as the big -1200 favorite at 5Dimes to beat Liz Carmouche (+775) in their Bantamweight bout at UFC 157 at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Saturday night. Lyoto Machida is also a -230 favorite to come out on top against Dan Henderson (+190) on the UFC card at the Honda Center.
