Super Rugby 2020 Favourites

Canterbury Crusaders

Unparallel success in Super Rugby has the New Zealand’s Crusaders yet again the short-priced favourites to take out the title in 2020. Although the Crusaders were mere mortals at times in 2019, it’ll take an incredible team to beat them in 2020 when times are tough come finals time.

Waikato Chiefs

The arrival home to New Zealand of long time successful Wales coach, Warren Gatland, has the Chiefs fans and supporters licking their chops in anticipation of their first Super Rugby title since the back-to-back glory days of 2012-2013.

Wellington Hurricanes

If it wasn’t for striking an imposing Canterbury Crusaders side at the top of their game for a few years, the Wellington Hurricanes surely would have multiple Super Rugby titles in the trophy cabinet by now. Having gone awfully close in past seasons, there are worse teams to have a punt on to win the title.

South Africa’s best hope of backing up with a Super Rugby title after the Springboks shock 2019 Rugby World Cup win, falls into the hands of the Lions. Playing at altitude always assists the Lions in winning more home games than they lose.

ACT Brumbies

The chances are unlikely, but if you’re looking for the best Aussie Super Rugby outfit on which to place a bet, the Brumbies are worth a punt. Much improved with a 3 rd place finish in 2019, the Brumbies look set to return to their glory days of the early 2000s.

Our predictions

As good as the Crusaders have been over recent years, you can’t feel like thinking that their time of the top of the Super Rugby tree has an expiry date. Throw into the mix the arrival of Warren Gatland, (a superb man-manager, an excellent coach with an impeccable pedigree and record) to the Waikato Chiefs and you can’t help but feel it will be the year of the Chiefs.
