The San Francisco 49ers take on the Kansas City Chiefs at Hard Rock Stadium (6:30 PM EST). The expected starters at QB are Jimmy Garoppolo for the 49ers and Patrick Mahomes for the Chiefs. This matchup report includes NFL odds, predictions, and a free pick against the spread.
Future Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers grew up not far from the San Francisco area in Chico, Calif., and was a huge fan of Joe Montana’s. On Sunday, Rodgers can punch his second career trip to the Super Bowl by upsetting the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game. It’s a 6:40 p.m. ET kickoff from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, which hosts an NFC title game for the first time.
Jimmy G and Rodgers are two of the highest-paid players in the NFL, and as soon as Mahomes is eligible for an extension of his rookie deal he’s going to be the highest-paid player in football history. Then there’s the Tennessee Titans’ Tannehill (who actually was drafted the highest of the four, laughably). Back in March, you may not even have noticed two minor transactions that the Titans made: Cutting Blaine Gabbert and trading a seventh-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft and a 2020-fourth rounder to Miami for Tannehill and a 2019 sixth-round selection.
The Green Bay Packers hit the road to play the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium (6:40 PM EST). The QBs expected to start the game are Aaron Rodgers for the Packers and Jimmy Garoppolo for the 49ers. This report includes betting predictions and our expert NFL picks for todays game.
The Tennessee Titans hit the road to take on the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium (3:05 PM EST). The quarterbacks expected to start under center are Ryan Tannehill for the Titans and Patrick Mahomes for the Chiefs. This matchup report includes NFL odds, predictions, and a free pick against the spread.
Pretty clearly the marquee matchup of the Divisional Round from an exciting young quarterback perspective is when Deshaun Watson’s Houston Texans visit Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs in a 3:05 p.m. ET kickoff on Sunday. The winner most likely will be in Baltimore (and an underdog) next Sunday. Of course, Watson and Mahomes were both 2017 first-round picks … and taken after Chicago traded up for Mitchell Trubisky (sorry, Bears fans).
What does the last Divisional Round game of the weekend, Seattle at Green Bay in a 6:40 p.m. ET start on Sunday, feature that none of the other three do? Starting quarterbacks who have won a Super Bowl ring in Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers. No other game even has one such QB. The two starting QBs with rings is the fewest entering the Divisional Round since 2010 when there were also two (Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger).
The second of two games on Divisional Round Saturday in the NFL playoffs features the sixth-seeded Tennessee Titans visiting the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens with a kickoff of 8:15 p.m. ET. This is the first time in the current playoff format (instituted in 1990) that the Ravens earned the AFC’s top seed. That’s a bit surprising considering they have won two Super Bowls this century. Incidentally, the Ravens are the only franchise with at least two Super Bowl appearances and no losses.
In this writer’s opinion, the best three days of the 2019-20 football season begin on Saturday with an NFC Divisional Round game as the sixth-seeded Minnesota Vikings visit the top-seeded San Francisco 49ers with a 4:35 p.m. ET kickoff. Why do I think these are the best three days of football? It’s the last weekend in the NFL where there are games on both Saturday and Sunday, and then Monday night is of course the National Championship Game between Clemson and LSU.
The Tennessee Titans go up against the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium (8:15 PM EST). The expected starting QBs are Ryan Tannehill for the Titans and Lamar Jackson for the Ravens. This report includes betting predictions and our expert NFL picks for todays game.
The Seattle Seahawks go up against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field (6:40 PM EST). The expected starters at QB are Russell Wilson for the Seahawks and Aaron Rodgers for the Packers. We have included an expert NFL pick and parlay for todays game against the spread.
The Minnesota Vikings hit the road to take on the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium (4:35 PM EST). The expected starters at QB are Kirk Cousins for the Vikings and Jimmy Garoppolo for the 49ers. This matchup report includes NFL odds, predictions, and a free pick against the spread.
The Houston Texans go up against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium (3:05 PM EST). The expected starters at QB are Deshaun Watson for the Texans and Patrick Mahomes for the Chiefs. This matchup report includes football betting lines and our pick of the day for this game.
There’s an old saying in the NFL that the “backup quarterback is the most popular guy in town.” That’s obviously not true in places like Boston/New England, New Orleans or Kansas City to name three because those towns have Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Patrick Mahomes, respectively. In Chicago, Denver and Nashville, to name three others, it definitely is true right now.
The late Wild-Card game on Saturday features the AFC No. 6 seed Tennessee Titans visiting the No. 3 seed New England Patriots. Felt weird even typing Wild-Card game and Patriots in the same sentence because this is the first time they have played on that weekend since 2009. Did you know the Patriots have never reached a Super Bowl when they didn’t have a first-round bye? That’s crazy. Part of the benefit of playing in the crappy AFC East is the Patriots usually have the AFC’s best record because they often went 6-0 in their own division.
Did you know that just one Wild-Card team this decade has reached the Super Bowl? That was the Green Bay Packers in 2010 season and they would win their only visit under Aaron Rodgers, beating the Pittsburgh Steelers. I frankly only give one Wild-Card team a shot to get there this year, and no offense to Buffalo and Tennessee in the AFC and Seattle in the NFC, but that’s the NFC No. 6 Minnesota Vikings.
How good were the six NFL head coaching hires ahead of the 2017 season? OK, Denver blew it by going with Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, who was canned after the 2018 season by team boss John Elway. Could be that both Jacksonville’s Doug Marrone and the Los Angeles Chargers’ Anthony Lynn are fired any day now.
The Tennessee Titans hit the road to play the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium (8:15 PM EST). The expected starting QBs are Ryan Tannehill for the Titans and Tom Brady for the Patriots. This report includes betting predictions and our expert NFL picks for todays game.
The Seattle Seahawks play the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field (4:40 PM EST). The quarterbacks expected to start the game are Russell Wilson for the Seahawks and Carson Wentz for the Eagles. We have included an expert NFL pick and parlay for todays game against the spread.
The Minnesota Vikings go up against the New Orleans Saints at Mercedes-Benz Superdome (1:05 PM EST). The probable starting QBs are Kirk Cousins for the Vikings and Drew Brees for the Saints. This matchup report includes football betting lines and our pick of the day for this game.
