USC is a trendy pick in 2020 with 35 players on the roster with starting experience, including QB Kedon Slovis , who is was named Pac-12 Offensive Freshman Of The Year and FWAA Freshman All-American. The true freshman took the reins at quarterback after 2018 starter JT Daniels suffered a torn ACL in the season-opener against Fresno State. Slovis passed for 3,505-yards, 30 touchdowns and nine interceptions with a 71.9 completion percentage in 2019. USC finished 8-5 last season.

In addition to Slovis, USC returns nine starters fo r Yea r 2 of the Ai r R aid offense under OC G raham Ha r rell . The strength will be USC’s wide receive r unit of Tyler Vaughns , Amon-Ra St. Brown and Drake London . Former starting tight end Daniel Imatorbhebhe is also expected to return to the line up after a two-year absence with injuries. USC returns all four of its scholarship running backs with starting experience, including seniors Vavae Malepeai and Stephen Carr .

The offensive line will be the team’s biggest question going into the season; USC loses both starting offensive tackles in Drew Richmond and Austin Jackson . The Trojans do return second-team All-Pac-12 guard Alijah Vera-Tucker . It will also welcome back two-year left guard state r And rew Vo rhees, who redshi rted in 2019 with injury. The Trojans signed six offensive linemen in the 2020 class.

USC is overhauling its defense this offense under new defensive coordinator Todd Orlando, one of six new assistant coaches on the staff. He has a lot of work with in 2020: USC returns its entire starting secondary and vi rtually the entire defensive line, which includes first-team All-Pac-12 defensive tackle Jay Tufele and 247Sports Freshman All-American defensive end Drake Jackson. USC loses starting MIKE linebacker John Houston Jr. and defensive end Christian Rector to graduation.

The Trojans will once again face a tough slate in 2020, headlined by a season-opener with Alabama at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Alabama is listed at 19-to-4 odds, the third-best odds in the country behind Clemson (43/20) and Ohio State (4/1). The Crimson Tide and Trojans met for a 2016 season opener, a 52-6 rout by Alabama.
